For thousands of years, if not more, we have placed the ground of authority and legitimacy on special people, institutions or gods. When it is about people, we value the elder, the purer, the wiser, the holier or the healthier. We have not understood well that the authority is something inside each of us. Spiritual healing is an example of this reality.
Who heals you? The doctor? The medicine? The placebo? You?
Your body follows your innermost impulses, feelings, patterns and instincts. Illness and health respond to the combination of forces, factors and energies taking place within one’s skin.
Of course, there are pathogens outside in the environment… and potentially everywhere we look around.
This Covid-19 pandemic makes a good number of people more fearful than ever, forgetting that pathogens and threats are all the time inside of our bodies (and mind). We carry bacteria, virus and carcinogenic cells, for example, in as much as we carry complexes or trauma. What comes from the outside is not as delicate compared to what we already have inside…
It all depends on where you have your attention and what strategy you choose for life, that is what determines your health.
When I came across Yoga in 2001, I knew I had found a way to health and healing. My Hatha Yoga teacher, Jorge Guthrie, introduced me to a new experience, an experience that captivated me. The contemplative aspect of Yoga changed the way I saw things while teaching me to develop my health. Besides being a yogi, he was a great naturopath. He introduced me to my first experience with breathing techniques and meditation.
In 2005 I met Gurudev Singh, a master of meditation and Sat Nam Rasayan. And I followed him for 7 years. He taught me how to experience the mind and its meditative application to produce healing. I appreciate this experience. I was sad to hear of his passing recently on April the 5th and I was also sad to hear about the very recent allegations against him and his close disciple.
This is why I now write about the power of experience and inner authority. Where do we situate the root of our health? And how can we maintain and strengthen it?
Experiencing connection with the source of life and vitality…
When I first felt how meditation could release me from unhealthy tendencies leading me towards better energy and mood, I knew that that event would change my life forever. Despite that I am a very emotional person, my young mind was too busy keeping me disconnected from my inner resources… But this deeper experience of life that I could achieve through meditation, did not make me feel especially “spiritual” but in many ways made me feel healthier…
That is why I devoted my energy to study all I could learn about this field. It did not matter who said or taught me, or what they taught —my inner experience of coming to terms with my mental, emotional and physical being was self-assuring, self-evident and undeniable. This is how inner experience became an instance for reality checking and a source of certainty and validation.
And I turned my life 180º direction to yoga, meditation and meditative healing.
While I reflect on this I realise that that is how the inner authority works —you do something because you deeply know you must do it, no matter what others say or what is expected of you. When you know and feel something to be true, you are ready to give your energy, your head, or even your life to it.
I admit that I have always believed in destiny. I feel that there is something for myself to learn, do and share with others. The Meditative Healing Program™️ (MHP) that I created in 2011 is a direct expression of this vivid journey in which I have been able to convert an experience of health and healing into something that can also help and serve others.
After training many people since 2012, the new pandemic world gave the impulse for this Program to take place as a distant education. The current students of the Programs are going through an indescribable and deeply healing process. This is the magics of the modern interconnected world, and this is also the power of the meditative field in these courses… What people have normally felt about this process keeps being true despite the distance, as you could read in some testimonials.
I want to encourage you to dive within your own mind and soul to discover the secrets of immunity and self-healing. It might sound cliché but we all have the power and self-authority to improve our health… “one is one’s best healer”, some people say. Do you believe that?
For me this meditative approach to health is indeed a very refined inner art and one day scientific demonstration will explain it. But you don’t have to wait. You can experience it already: start engaging your own emotions, mind and body in an accepting and compassionate way… you will feel better, and if you persist, healthier.
